can't help but~; very; extremely
Examples:
- 昨日、一点差で試合に負けてしまい、悔しくてしょうがなかった。Yesterday, I lost the game by one point, and I was very disappointed.
- 眠くてしようがないときは、コーヒーを飲んで、また勉強を頑張る。When I'm sleepy and can't help, I drink coffee and study hard again.
- 試合の最後に逆転されて、残念でしょうがない。It was a pity to be overtaken at the end of the game.
- 隣の部屋から聞こえてくる音が気になってしょうがない。I can't help but be worried about the sound coming from the next room.
- 私はそれが気になってしょうがない。I can't help thinking about that.
