What is the reference value of successful experience? How should we learn? Can success be copied?

First of all, most people's experiences are of no reference value.

Especially those "successful people", they will not or dare not tell you the real reason for success.

Even some of them don't know the reason for their success.

From my work and entrepreneurial experience with so many friends around me,

There are so many variables in the world that it is difficult to predict whether a thing will succeed,

There will be a variety of "black swan events" leading to failure.

A friend of mine was preparing to open a restaurant before the COVID-19 outbreak. Everything was ready,

It would open on January 20, 2020. As you know, it would close down.

The success of starting a business is a matter of probability.

The ability is strong, choosing the direction that seems to be right just increases the probability, and the rest is waiting for luck.

Continuous entrepreneurship is also to improve the probability of success at least once,

So don't listen to the "successful people" who say that you can succeed by doing "these things".

No success can be copied.

Any change in a variable may lead you to a completely different path from him.

No one can accurately predict the future.

About learning:

  • learning environment
  • learning style

learning environment: Enough to keep you focused on your study.

learning methods: Single point breakthrough, positive feedback faster.

I just want to talk about learning methods below.

Chinese students don't even know where their knowledge can be used, except for exams.

You know, exams don't come every day, so feedback is slow. There are usually monthly exams and final exams. This leads to the fact that Chinese students don't study hard at ordinary times, except before exams.(I mean Chinese universities.)

In other words, they have no faster feedback, even no feedback!(In fact, it is more negative feedback.)

No feedback itself is a kind of negative feedback.

So they 're not motivated enough to learn.

I am the kind of person who likes to start practicing after learning a little knowledge.

I don't like to do it after learning all the knowledge. I like learning while doing, because in the process of doing, I may encounter some parts that I can't do. Then I need to learn, so I have a steady stream of motivation.

For example, when I was learning Linear Algebra, I didn't think that it would be used in Recommendation Algorithm and Artificial Intelligence later.

After that, I found out that I was wrong, so I began to study Linear Algebra crazily.

So before learning to check what can be used to do, will be more targeted.

Even when you just start to learn, try to solve some practical problems that will help you.

Of course, it is also possible to find out after checking that this course is really useless.

Again:

  • There are too many variables about success, which are unpredictable. At the same time, the experiencer cannot describe all the variables accurately, so success can hardly be copied
  • Learning, in fact, the most important thing is positive feedback

If you have a clear understanding of what you can do with what you have learned, and it will bring you some immediate rewards, you will not hesitate to do it.

Therefore, it is against human nature to study for scores,

Our brain, more pursuit of "direct reward", do not want to "roundabout" to get positive feedback, so the game has always been the enemy of school learning.

Motivation is very important. It's not because you have strong willpower. It's something that attracts you and you want it urgently,

So you're constantly hinting to yourself that you'll get it if you put up with it. So that you don't even notice the passage of time, because you are so intoxicated.

It's always unrealistic to pursue scores and prepare for exams. Unless you have a special positive feedback mechanism, otherwise, it's easy to fish for three days but dry the net for two days. (means you don't want to do it at all)

You should know that whether it is the final exam, monthly exam or weekly exam, feedback is very slow, and frustration will increase with time.

In addition, learning this kind of thing, if you don't know what you can do with this knowledge in the future, you are very easy to lose motivation.

As for the positive feedback mechanism, you need to create it by yourself.

In my words, I would like to write blogs.

Because I have learned more and more knowledge points now, more and more complicated, even if taking notes, it is not very useful, so I simply set up a database.

If I need any knowledge in the future, I can directly Google search my own website 'url + keywords' to save time as much as possible. In this way, it may help people with the same problems.

Of course, my original intention of blogging is to serve myself.

Later I found out that blogging is also a form of Feynman's learning method.

Feynman's learning method itself is also related to the theory of positive feedback mechanism, because you teach people and teach them that they will bring about a sense of achievement. Moreover, in the process of teaching, feedback is immediate. You will think about whether what you say is correctly explained in the simplest way, and whether the listener can understand it?

All in all, it's positive feedback.

Transfer to others / immediate practice is positive feedback, and transfer to others / immediate practice is the most direct self-study, even the essence of learning.
